Here, piggy, piggy! Those piggy-shaped banks we all know and love weren't born from any porcine financial wisdom. Their origin traces to medieval Europe through a linguistic twist—household containers were once made from "pygg," an orange clay with zero pig connection. As pronunciation evolved, "pygg" became "pig," inspiring potters to create money containers shaped like our curly-tailed friends. This wordplay birthed the beloved piggy bank that's been teaching financial prudence for centuries. Have a penny to spare?
