On April 1, 1980, Londoners woke up to a startling announcement: Big Ben was going digital! The BBC, who reported the news, had orchestrated an all-time April Fool's Day prank. Despite the playful intent, some of the public fell for the joke, sparking a skoch of outrage. Needless to say, we don't expect Big Ben to go digital anytime soon! (And we’ll keep bringing Bulletin goodness to your inbox every other Thursday 😜)

It’s engrained in modern culture as a classic comedic gimmick: a performer walking on a banana peel and slipping with the “whoop!” sound as the actor hits the ground. These days this gag may be something you only see in a cartoon, but not too long ago this comedic bit was referencing a banana-filled sidewalk reality.

In 2014, a storied U.S. architectural firm met their match: a mid-century modern masterpiece in need of renovation. Searching for a second home in the southwest, they would reinvigorate the 50-year-old space in Phoenix, and begin to design “from the ground up.”
