Summer’s favorite treat was accidentally invented by an eleven year old. Back in 1905, little Frank Epperson left his cup of soda with a stirring stick outside during a frigid night. Frank returned the next day to find an easy-to-eat frozen treat! Dubbed the “epsicle”, Frank would go on to patent his discovery twenty years later.

From the Community

📍 Singapore 📸 Kevin Yuan

Nearly two years ago, a member of the AWA Community reached out to share a short architectural film they produced about their hometown. Little did we know this would be the start of something very special…

Kevin Yuan has gone from ‘stranger on the internet’ to official AWA Ambassador in Singapore, and dare we say, a very close friend. He captured our imaginations, and piqued our interests in 2021 with the release of his short-film “A Wes Anderson-ish Singapore: Vol. 1”, then he took us on a beautiful Adventure through his beloved home city-state to share some of his favorite AWA gems, and now he is back with another amazing short - this time, for some reason, he even asked us to play a part.

Kevin has just released “A Wes Anderson-ish Singapore: Volume 2” and it certainly does not disappoint. Click below, put on your headphones, and get ready to be immersed in stunning scenery, incredible architecture, and historic adventure. (…and keep your eyes peeled for Dexter’s cameo!)

Musée Albert-Kahn 📍 Boulogne-Billancourt, France 📸 Arnaud Pladys

The origins of this grandiose greenhouse can be traced back to a man who fell in love with the art of photography, and started a quest to recreate the world’s gardens. Now a public park and museum, this four hectare “garden of the world” also contains a plethora of pictures from a project meant to “collect the world”…

Shirley-Eustis House📍 Boston, Massachusetts 📸 Matthew Dickey

While the state of Massachusetts does not have an official governor’s residence, one home has been host to two of them–ruling under different flags, of course. The house was built at a time when Roxbury was still just a rural town on the outskirts of Boston, and if these walls could speak, they would whisper centuries of Old Bay State history…
